Second shoot for our Music Video...

This is the second shoot for our music video which has new footage for the car driving scene with new people acting in it, being Christian (the lead singer) and his girlfriend Amelia. We used new actors as we needed there to be more emotion put into the car clips and it also still makes sense as it is as if Christian is going to watch himself play at a gig.

Filming the live performance again...

So that we can improve our music video, I need to begin thinking about filming our live performance again as the first one we did was not up to the standard in which I wanted as the actual shots needed improvement anyway, but the amount of shots which we had got wasn't enough. We were also advised by our teacher to change our drummer as he was never really in time with the actual song and didn't know what to do with the different beats. This wouldn't be too hard to change as James (the drummer) never features on anything like the CD cover so we would be able to add a new drummer without any issues. I am also tempted to change the location of the live performance as it is quite small and you can see the corners of the room which is not the feel that we want it to have as we want it to be like the room is completely filled out and that we are on stage.

Feedback Session

Planning for our re-shoot

In our re-shoot, I want to re-do the whole of the music video as most of the shots that I did weren't up to the standard that I wanted them to be. I want to improve the variety of shots that I am doing as well as I don't think I was very adventurous when it came to the first shoot. I also think there may be a change in the actors who we will be using in our video due to some discussion regarding how well the original people acted. Although Beth and Matt looked great and fitted the kind of target audience that we want our band to be reaching, there were some parts where me, Christian and Shaun thought that there wasn't enough going into it. As a alternative, we did come up with the idea of having Christian (who is also the bands lead singer) being the male actor in the car so that it is him and his girlfriend Amelia who are driving to go and see the show. What I Think would be really cool in this, is if when Christian is on his way to the show and the music video is cutting between the live show and the car, we won't actually show Christians face when he is the lead singer of the band so that the two stories meet at the end and the viewers will see/understand that Christian is actually the lead singer.

First Shoot for our Music Video...

Before we broke up for the Christmas holidays, we had to have a first draft in for our music video to show our progress of what we have got up to so far for this year. There were still some shots that I needed to do so that the video would be fully completed, but for now I just placed the animatics on the point of the song that I didn't have any footage for so that it was fluent when we showed it to the class. I believe that the filming for this first draft went very well as I managed to get the shots that I wanted for the video. Despite this there is much room for improvement, especially with the lighting that we had to work with. The car was very dark inside so we had to use the inside lights and also our phones to try and light it up so that Beth and Matt were visible in the car. I would improve this next time by filming a lot earlier in the day which wasn't available during the first shoot because of Matt working until later than usual. I would also use a light to have a better and more defined view of Beth and Matt, and also to help focus on different parts of the video. Another point which will be improved when we film for the second time is some of the shots which I was using. The shots I think I need to improve is the time lapse shot, because when I had sped the footage up so that it was quicker, it had started to go fuzzy on some points so I would need to improve by perhaps using a different camera.

I would also like to change the camera that I used as think that although the DSLR had worked, using a Go-Pro would create a much better look for some of the shots so it looks more action packed and can give it a more sped up and rushed look which will match the fast pace of the song.
